TEXT Psalm 71.17-18 ESV

17O God, from my youth you have taught me, and I still proclaim your wondrous deeds.

18So even to old age and gray hairs, O God, do not forsake me, until I proclaim your might to another generation, your power to all those to come.

The thriving local church is characterized by:

Are our ministries inspiring others to participate? Are we inspired ourselves?
Drill down: If my own heart’s not in it, how can I expect others to catch on?

Am I invested in the long-term health and effectiveness of this church? (the local expression of the Body of Christ)
Drill down: Am I giving of my Time? Talent? And Treasure?
Do I purposefully participate in developing healthy relationships with others and with God?
Drill down: Are we Dependent? Independent? Or Inter-dependent?

Am I partnering with the Holy Spirit with the goal of influencing others to become fully-devoted followers of Jesus?
Drill down: The Great Commission is our Mission. We each have unique giftings and relational opportunities to fulfill this mission.
Matthew 28.19-20 ESV19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
2 Timothy 3.14-15 ESV14 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it 15 and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.
