[The Path to Peace] John 14:27 03.31.2019
CFA | Pastor Joseph
John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.
What is Peace?
1. Freedom from disturbance; tranquility.
2. A state or period in which there is no war or a war has ended.
-The peace that Christ offers is primarily spiritual peace from and with God, peace in the heart, peace as the disposition or spirit.
Fear and Worry
The greatest enemies of the peace within are worry and fear.
I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
Take it or Leave it
Jesus did not promise peace, but He offered it. He said, “you may have peace. ”
Peace does not come when you finally have control over your life; peace comes when you no longer need control.
“All men desire peace, but very few desire those things that make for peace. ” – Thomas a’ Kempis
4 Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. 5 Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; 6 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
