What We Believe

ABOUT THE BIBLE

The Bible is the authoritative and inspired Word of God and is trustworthy and reliable teaching us what to believe and how to live. Comprised of 66 books written over a period of 1500 years by roughly 40 authors, the Bible tells one seamless story of redemption.

ABOUT GOD

God is the creator, ruler, and sustainer of the universe. He eternally exists in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. God is infinite; He is not limited by time or space. He is all-knowing, ever-present, and all-powerful. His character – His grace and wrath, mercy and justice, love and truth all work together for good.

(Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 43:10-11; Matthew 28:19; Luke 3:22; Matthew 5:16, 45, 6:1, 4, 8, 9; John James 1:17; John 1:1; Genesis 1:2; John 4:24, 14:16-20; Hebrews 1:3; 2 Peter 1:21).

ABOUT JESUS CHRIST

Jesus is the eternal Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father. Christ meaning “anointed one” is His title. Jesus was born of a virgin, lived a sinless human life, suffered and was crucified under Pontius Pilate, and offered himself as a perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on the cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to the Father’s right hand in heaven and one day will return to judge both the living and the dead.

(Matthew 1:23; Luke 1:31, 35; Hebrews 7:26; 1 Peter 2:22; Acts 2:22; 10:38; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Matthew 28:6; Luke 24:39; Acts 1:9, 11; 2:33; Philippians 2:9-11; Hebrews 1:3).

ABOUT THE HOLY SPIRIT

The Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and Son of God. The Holy Spirit is given to every follower of Christ to guide, comfort, convict, and adopt us into the family of God. He helps us grow into Christ-likeness by producing the fruit of the Spirit in our lives, and He gives us spiritual gifts to empower us to meet the needs of God’s people and share hope with a hurting world.

(John 15:5-15; Acts 1:7-8; Romans 8:26-27; 1 Corinthians 3:16; 6:19; 2 Timothy 1:14)
